Like many gangs and gang members, they are usually associated with the “Broken Window Theory” in the Criminal Justice theory. Out of this one theory out of many other theories I think that this one best suites the way Latino gangs and other gangs are stereotyped into this Broken window theory. Saying that though I believe that this theory is an exact way of where these gangs live and what types of environment they are put in and raised in. With the Broken Window Theory, this theory is put that many criminals and crimes are took place in areas with houses that have broken windows or are run down to not looking like a good neighborhood that someone would really want to live in. With this theory by James Wilson and George Kelling they have figured up by statistics that more crime is committed in these areas. Also with me being a criminal justice student I have learned about this theory and I agreed with this theory just as much as these two guys do. Crime usually does tend to happen in low end communities and areas where houses and beat up and have broken windows, I don’t know what it is about it but not always but usually happens in these areas. Although many crimes do happen in other high in areas most of crimes is down in low end areas. Latino gangs with many other gangs tend to say with these low lined areas for one to stay away from cops because cops do not go down in these areas as much and gangs love to do their crimes in these areas. They have always found out that with this theory not many people want to live in these areas because of the violence that these areas bring and what they might be getting themselves into, and many people move out of these areas when they start getting bad because of the same thing. Saying that my theory would suggest that may not be good with some of the crimes that gangs like the latino gang population like selling drugs may hurt their business because if they do not have as much business to sell their product to then they will not be able to profit off anyone and will have to go over to other turfs in order to sell. If this happens then it can make very bad situations for both gangs in that they would possible have a death if not many deaths on their hand because they do not have enough business in their own neighborhood due to this theory that they do not want to deal with all the drug dealing and killing and other crimes that might affect them someday. In conclusion with this theory that these two men made it is a good theory to me that shows that Latino gang violence is in the mix with the lower end communities and are one reason why they made this theory to prove to people that it in fact is a good theory.
